After the Sauna

Jan. 17 — The National Forest Lodge near Isabella, Minn., is a historic lodge with a traditional Finnish sauna. Many visitors, including Regina Afderheide, pictured here, enjoy jumping in the lake after a session in the sauna. Photojournalist Brian Peterson used a longer lens, a Canon 70-200 f2.8, to compress the landscape and emphasize the lakeshore in the distance. Shooting at dusk, with the blue hues of winter, also added to the photo’s chill factor.
