This poster, which is part of a 12-poster series, is an homage to “the North Star state’s great display of the products of the earth and air, the outpouring of the horn of plenty into the lap of Minnesota’s loyal people,” as the Minneapolis Tribune wrote in 1896.

… went to the fair, and then to market. Some pigs, cows, goats, rabbits or chickens have that winning look and are bound for State Fair greatness. But many a beloved Pekin duck, Rambouillet lamb, Duroc hog and brown Swiss cow has left the barn with no purple ribbon to show for long days in the dusty heat of the animal barns, patted and prodded by city folk and sticky-fingered kids. And their young owners also face long days at “The Cow and Her Contributions to Mankind” exhibit (1928), the milking booth, the row of pat-able bunnies, the Miracle of Birth center and many others, answering the same questions again and again, followed by nights in a barn or a trailer. Yet they compete hard to get there. Last year, 4-H kids from 87 counties brought nearly 3,000 animals to the fair. “It’s a lifestyle, not just a hobby,” Emily Brual said a few summers ago of 4-H. How about the livestock? “Most animals love coming to the fair” and seem to revel in the attention, said Mark Goodrich, the fair’s deputy general manager in charge of competitions.

Each poster is printed on-demand on heavy quality photo paper. Posters will arrive in 10-14 days.
